Project S.M.I.L.E.

House Life Matters (HLM) exist to mobilize and cultivate leadership of the House and Ball community (HBC) to educate individuals and youth to advocate for their own needs and rights. HLM continues to reduce social isolation and connect individuals and youth who are often at the fringes of society to a network of peers that are working for social change. This Initiative gave birth to House Lives Matter’s Midwest Regional Response Team and the creation of – Midwest Moving Forward.

Midwest Moving Forward is committed to shaping the health equity field for Midwest LGBTQ HBC communities alike so that all individuals live healthier and happier lives.  In order to create this equity in the HBC community The Midwest Moving Forward Initiative has created Project SMILE (Shaping Midwest Individual Lives Everyday) Equity Guide (resource directory.)  SMILE will ensure that the transient house ball community receives the services that they deserve from culturally competent and sensitive primary care providers, mental health providers and health establishments in a welcoming and caring environment.
